Last night I dreamed I took my driving test for motorcycles and the drive was actually through a set up hollow ghost city full of buildings with no people and empty roads. As I drove I remember thinking about how much all this land in the middle of the city must be worth. After the drive, they somehow determined that I was colour blind and brought me for testing. An Orwell infused experience it was. At the end of the driving test, the administrator wrote a letter on a page and when I could not make it out, started asking me numerous questions about my sight.
Enjoy our National Day of Rest
Feeling like writing but not remembering what I had even wanted to say as I sit at home now after a night that started at the Ribfest/Southern BBQ cookoff and ended with Miche, Pate, Sheila, Lisa and I listenning to records at Miches'. Sung Tongs, the Pinbacks, The Wonderful World of Disney and The Muppet Movie were my highlights.
The Schedule for The Stan Rogers Festival is now up at the site

God love that Dave Draves. He bought me an old piano at a church sale for my birthday and I had it moved in this week. It is a Willis upright made in Montreal and when we took it apart we discovered it is from 1913. The action is out being restored but in two weeks, it will be all Piano Man and Rocket Man and A Man Needs a Maid for me. Thanks Draves, an amazing gift indeed.
Well, well. another week upon us here in the 613 and the warm weather is here. NXNE last weekend. Feeling old, I never left the Horseshoe on Thursday and after singing with
Kate Maki on Friday at the Reverb, I stayed there as well.
Here is the
Chart Report Card from the show.
Shows this week: Mississauga Waterfront Festival with Jim Cuddy. Information
HERE. They call it the "North Side Beaches". Gets people ready for the summer I guess.
Video will be done by the end of week and then it is anyones guess when one will see it. If I hear, I will pass on information.
NXNE
I will be heading back 416 way this week. The show is this Thursday as part of the NXNE event. We play at the Horseshoe at the Midnight hour along with a trio of Six Shooter Records folks and Laika and the Cosmonaunts.
The band will be a mix of old and new. Peter VonAlthen will be making a return behind the kit for the 2004 late spring/summer "Folk/Rock" season and will join alongside 2003 favourites Michael Houston Hanlan and Jake Bryce.
As well I will sit in on a panel discussing downloading and sing a song with the kind and talented kate Maki on Friday at the Reverb.
Enjoy the sun,
Thanks to
Pate for
THIS today
