Hello All:
I am writing this from the Blue Rodeo studio/office in Toronto were I have found my self a place to sit and hide from the daily goings on.
Au Revoir: Tonight, our beloved Montreal Expos play their final game after 37 years in the majors. I can only think of my father who has dedicated that entire time to listenning and watching and reading about this team, his team. We went to spring training in 1980 and a year later watched the Rick Monday incident. I in my newly bought Tim Raines #30 custom made jersey. I have been wearing and old Expos hat around this week and it is amazing how many people have just started talking to me about how sad it all is. And it really is sad, and to make it worse, they have to play the fucking Florida Marlin, owned by that bastard Jeffery Loria, who is in no small part responsible for the final collapse of this team. To Wigney and Bartlett, take some photos'. as a final thought, I know it has just been a horrible week for my dad, and I know as well, he will be pacing through the living room as he has for all these years during every game.
Rivoli Show: For those in or near Toronto, tomorrow is the evening where Nathan Lawr and I play the lovely Rivoli on Queen St. Show starts at somewhere around 9pm. While here in Toronto this week, I have learned a) how to navigate City Hall, b) how to buy those one week overnight parking permit (after three parking tickets) c) how this here city hall is not where you go to pay parking tickets. d) how two hours is just far too long a time for anyone over 30 to be playing hockey for. Take me home; oh 401, to the place where we are lucky if we get 45minutes before the buzzer goes.
Ron McLean: While on this wonderful Jim Cuddy theatre tour, I met Ron McLean in Oakville at the merch booth where he not only bought music, but bought it on "vinyl". I was flattered by his obviously smart shopping choice and was incredibly honoured to meet him.
What Else: I spent yesterday recording with the now former vibes player from the Sadies, Paul Acoin in his living room. Paul is as well going to score some string and horn parts for a couple of songs. We had a great day and wrapped it up sitting and watching the Daily Show.
well, that is all from our provincial capital...

This Weeks Goings' On
The CBCs' decision to move Cornation Street to 7:30pm from 3pm sure has my father in a whirl of confusion. For years he has had his schedule set in stone and tightly organised, so changes like this take time to fully settle into.

In other news, I was released last week from my Canadian record label, The Orange Record label. It was an amicable separation after one record, last Septembers' The North Side Benches.

See the shows section for all the details for this weeks' Jim Cuddy show I am openning in theartre across parts of Ontario.

Another sad moment for music as Johnny Ramone passed away in his sleep yesterday afternoon after a five year battle with prostate cancer. After losing Joey in 2001 to cancer and Dee-Dee in 2002 to an overdose, Tommy remains the now only original Ramone still with us.

"Ramone (born John Cummings) kept his sickness private for four years, and news of it only became public in June when he lapsed into a coma for a week and was hospitalized. At the time, bandmate Marky Ramone, who joined the group in 1977 after drummer Tommy Ramone quit, expressed shock at Johnny's disease. "John never smoked cigarettes, and he wasn't a heavy drinker," Marky told Rolling Stone. "He was always into his health. That's why I can't understand it". Ap wire
