Audio Stuff: Here is a re-mix of Satelite by an old friend Brad Crowe. The source of the re-mix is a live solo piano recording from the NAC: Listen Here.
Tonight on PBS was a great documentary about the music business called "The Way The Music Died". Featuring loads of interviews with folks like the KCRWs' Nic Harcourt and David Crosby. It examines the changes in the business of music and radio. The documentary will be available for streaming on May 29th. It is a great web-site with plenty of interviews and information on the current state of affairs. It does not; however, cover much in the way of the independent. Duff and Matt Sorum are looking old and thin and ready to rock, though.
"I think it's a bit of a red herring when people say that the music industry is all screwed up; it's Clear Channel and all this kind of thing. It's actually the way business is done in America that's kind of messed up. Because this is not unique to the music industry. I mean, look at the pharmaceutical industry and how business is done in that industry with free samples and holidays and going to doctors and all this kind -- I mean, this is how business is done in America today. It's not just the music industry."(Nic Harcourt/KCRW, Santa Monica)
Now it is 1:45am and it has started pouring rain. I can hear it out the open balcony door. It is a good change from the sound of drunk folks leaving the dance bars and stumbling and fighting up our street. A couple of weeks ago there was a roaming fight that took them past my house and down to the end of the street. The voices rose and dropped as their proximity to where we live changed. I saw this once in Havana this winter as well. That fight gain momentum and participants as it rolled down the Prada.

Looking for direction...

I am sitting in Toronto On Susans' beautiful new imac wishing it could be mine. Yesterday we all had a great day out in the town of Lorreto making the Somehwere Else video. Jim Cuddy was very patient and kind to get up at 4:30am to be there. Thanks also to Jeff Kainz for his wonderful old Mercedes. I'll post a photo of it rigged with all the cameras.
Ok, now i am going to drive home and watch hockey with Miche.

Bandwidth is broadcast accross Ontario from 5-6pm. This is a show that Bill recorded back during the Juno awards weekend. A little rough around the edges, it features the original band line-up of Ian, Peter and Darren.
Well done to the Calgary Flames, Lorrie seems happy

Well, not much changes in a day, but I like this photo uploading, so here is one for today. From the Feast of Flowers yet again.

A fiftyman and a squirrel...

Having read this morning about the great demand for Gmail, I realized I was offered it last week and paid no mind. Hindsite brain cramp it was.
Incidentally, the photo now gracing the entry page to the site is a lovely photo of our cat, Dolly. SHe was born behind the recycling plant outside of Stittsville and we got her from a rescue program. She seems to like us so far.

Well not much to post today. I got caught in the rain on the old Beluga and I am see-sawing about seeing the Supersuckers tonight.
Here is a good photo though. It is of my friends Jude and Amanda at the Unintended last week in the Grand Smoke.

Out west is where we were...
Well, at least for the 15 day trial I have some more photos' here if you like. Just a few from the 200 we took out west.
So have a Look HERE So much fun it was, it is great to look back tonight at the pictures of it. These are not the best from the trip, I am sure, but there are so many, I used these to begin with.
Enjoy...

While were at it, here (temporarily), are some photos' from the last Montreal trip and recording just before. The Actors are: Michael Hanlan, Jake Bryce, Jeremy Gara, Kate Maki and Dave Draves. The photo of Jeremy and Kate and I is from a Howe trip prior to the other. It somehow ended up in the same folder. Click HERE

Above photo is the only known evidence of a "devious" arrangement made at the wonderful Black Dog in Edmonton between Brent Oliver and Eric Pate. Details are sketchy, but someone pays the price at next years Exclaim Hockey Summit.

Tonight is one of those evenings where I am completely restless. We are having one of our first real summertime evenings where I can leave to porch door open and the cats can run in and out as they please. It is also too early for bugs, which is why I can leave the doors open. A wonderful time to sit back and enjoy the passing of time and I am with just enough current to not be able to.
Lisa has gone to work tonight and I cannot figure our what to do. Most of the time I am calm and it is of no concern, but today is not one fo those days. I just went out to go to the video store, but went three block and turned back. For the last three hours I have been convinced that I will go to the video store and I was back within 10 minutes.
I am waiting to find out if the video will be pushed back two weeks due to the forecast of Thunderstorms in Alliston, Ontario where are going to do the filming. They do not want to get us all together only to watch it rain all day and have nothing to show. They will tell me in the morning.
PS: Something good to read

The Merger...
Well, after a month of so with a news page and a blog page, Chris and I decided to make them one in the same. Just like many of our nations cities, we organized a merger. All this means is that the Blog becomes the news, but now has the same template as the old news page. And also, the links in now in the news, which is the blog. I guess long story short, it all works. The top tool bar will be changed as well, but for now news, blog and links takes one to the same place.
Now that what I call talking in circles, enjoy the news...

Hey:
Have a listen to this. I came upon it by accident, it is a pleasant and calm fight song for the University of Maryland. There must be more of these to play.

Video Stuff: A video for the song "Somewhere Else" is being shot this Friday in the Toronto area. Lisa Mann is at the helm and I will be joined by the handsome Jim Cuddy in the video. The loose idea involves us driving around in a car and not entirely getting along during our short drive. Details are still blurry, but it should all make sense on Friday.
Show Stuff: Listing for a few of the summer festival shows that are booked are now up on the "shows" page of the .org empire. More to come, but for now some.

Here in Ottawa , the nice weather arrived, if only for a day. I spent the day clening up around the house, sweeping the decks, and watching more of the Freaks and Geeks box set that arrived in the mail while I was away last week recording.
My age might be starting to show. I found myself, on my mothers' urging, listenning to the local oldies program "Middle Aged Bald Guys". Tonight was the Beach Boys Pets Sounds, Jethro Tull and The Spencer Davis Group. Not a bad show either, if you are interested in live "Tull", which I normally would have no desire to hear.
Lorrie Matheson will be smilling today as the Flames of Calgary won the first game of their Stanley Cup semi-final series. You can find Lorrie on the WWW at lorriematheson.com
Onto the new week.....
