Hey All:

NYC In The Snow: We have arrived in NY through a pretty big snowstorm safe. Poor Kathleen is stuck on the overnight Greyhound after seeing all her flight options be cancelled today and tomorrow morning. She is a trooper indeed.
tomorrow night is our Letterman show and Colin is graciously setting up my guitar as I type this. Tune in CBS with the lovely Kirstie Alley also appearing.
I caught a quick glimpse of the Kristo and Jeanne Claude exhibit in Central Park and may try to head over there in the morning for a better look.

Former Glories: Evans Kellys' Former Glories short film airs Wednesday night on Zed TV on CBC nationwide. Shot in Halifax, Evan uses One Cigarette throughout the short film and tags on The Lost Occasional for the credits. For schedules, check out Zeds' site HERE.

Useless Post:

Ok, the only reason i am posting is cause today marks a first. i set up gear for soundcheck and then Kathleen pointed out that my wireless was picking up a signal, now I am posting this message from my keyboard mission control. We are at the Casbah and the last time I was here was on my Birthday two almost three years ago playing with Kathleen and Jason Collet and Luke Doucet and i had a terrible cold and then the next morning I went to Europe and met up with Oh Susanna. I just figured that out now.
Anyhow, thanks for your time, enjoy your day....

Filming Update:
So after putting up the post regarding the filming here, I received a couple of e-mails. The security fellow told me last night it was called Four Brothers, and Paul Cantin pointed me to this link which describes it as John Singletons' (Boyz' In The Hood) new film. Andre 3000 is also listed in the cast along with Marky Mark and right now they are tearing up and down Eastern firing off rounds (Kathleens' neighbour mention the gun shot warning last night).
Pretty good vantage point I have, I just keep missing the action. I saw a camera car roar by a minute ago, but missed the "stars" before it. Where I am sleeping has a window which looks out on the shoot.
Ok, enough of this I know, goodnight,

PS: More shots and an El Camino just now....

Tuesday Greetings:
Hello people of the www, 1:11am and I am in Kathleen upstairs guest room, looking out the window at the crews setting up for the film shoot they are doing throughout the night. The info I got is that Mark Wallberg is the star and Toronto becomes Detroit for this set of scenes her on Queen East. Yesterday they moved in a bunch of snow for the shoot and then got 15cm of it free during the night.
Rehearsals with Kathleen have been going really well, long days, but they are flying by and now tomorrow, we start shows just like that.
I took a few photos' of the practice space, and of the mission control that I get to stand behind. Jack of some trades, master of less is relevant here.
Not much else in my brain to report, so off I go to bed.... here is a slow exposure...

Justine Keaton:
I am in London in an oddly named but very nice pub called the Alex P Keaton. And also luckily borrowing wireless from the neighboring Law Office (I figure they can afford to share).
Thanks again to Grant and Haig and Don and all at CBC Radio 3 in Vancouver for the session recording.
I will make one clarification I feel necessary. When I mentioned my town Stittsville population as being 150 when growing up, I meant to say at the 1500. I thought about right after the interview and it was too late. So my apologies to my former townsfolk.
What else, not much, just a hello from the western worlds lesser known London...

CBC Radio 3

Hey all, well after a few fairly regular posts, I took most of this week off. Grant Lawrence e-mailed me today to remind to post a notice of the CBC Radio 3 session recording will play this Saturday at 10:05EST on CBC Radio 2. It was such a fun afternoon I had that day at CBC Vancouver, and Grant tells me it turned out well. The songs will find their way to www.cbcradio3.com after the show, but the interview will only be on this Saturdays' broadcast. You can also listen on-line to Radio 2 streamed at www.cbc.ca

This is up on the Flickr site, but here is the photo of Grant and I infront of the Peter Gzowski portrait at CBC Vancouver:

Evenings' Greetings:

Spent the evening over in the Paté bunker learning how to use the Fetch FTP program. I am fairly new to some of this, so it was good to go through stuff and had a great old time listening to music to some music. Chris is sending me the bunker photo so I will post that up when it arrives.

Ten Years Ago (well almost):

I thought I would make sure the FTP path works, so here is something from a long while ago. In 1998, Woody Wheelan put out a great tribute to the Nils (Scratches and Needles) on his Magwheel record label. About three years before that (I actually cannot exactly remember, but two to three years is fairly accurate), I recorded the song Daylight for this compilation with Punchbuggy. For many years before it had been (and still remains) one of my favourite songs and I had often played it with my friend Peter Rompkey.
It broke all of our hearts when we heard of Alex Soria's passing before Christmas. He was a really wonderful songwriter and someone who had an incredible direct influence on me.
I thought I would put this up cause I think it has aged ok and I was very fortunate to sing this song a few years back with Alex in Ottawa. It was an incredible moment for me.
Please find your way to this compilation, it is definitely available through the www.magwheel.com site

Have a listen: Daylight MP3

Getting the Coffee Right:

So this morning I got up and shuffled around the house and just finished making coffee, which is a task I achieve with varying results. I had all but finally got it figured out with our last coffee makers. I would grind the beans and we had a system. Well, now we have a new coffee maker which has a built in bean grinder. This has send all that I have come to know into ruins. I have seriously made pot after pot of underpowered coffee and I think it is safe to say, that a month has been the required adjustment time. I even took a picture of the coffee maker and then stopped myself after preparing to put the photo up. I realize that maybe just leaving the house most days would be a good idea.

Deep River Clock Museum:

I am looking for an old back-up Westclox kitchen clock. About a year ago ours tumbled off the wall and into pieces on the floor. I immediately put it all back together using duct tape where metal fasteners had previously been and it seemed fine. However I have now discovered that there a matienance schedule involved with his clock. About every two of three month the duct tape lets go and the clock either falls right back off the wall or half hangs on as its' pieces squelch out for help. And funny enough I came upon THIS site. Located in Deep River, Ontario, The Canadian Clock Museum is in its' fifth year of operation.

Ok, now I am going to leave the house and go skating on the canal....
