Out in the Cold:

Just sitting here back in ottawa watching Team Canada play a terrrible first period against Finland. Well, the bobsleighing went well.
Spent yesterday with Geddes up in Snow road doing my valley duty and riding around on his 1984 Ski Doo Safari. The last time on one of these things was during the "Travelled By Land" video shoot in Wakefield with a faulty oil/gas mixture. On that day, we spent most of time trying to keep the old 1971 Olympique running.
This trip went better and I even found myself on the winning end of the Snow Road snowmobile club breakfast 50/50 draw. 31- with the windchill is what the CBC way reporting when we returned. Hell of a way to be re-introduced to an activity and I was doing alot of pulling over to warm up. "I just was not made for these times".
Well, that is all for now, heading off to record this week....

Into The Valley:

So, in what will be called Second Instalment of the 2006 "sporadical" blog, I have a show annoucement and no real other significant updates.

Perth, Ontario: Thanks to the Friends of The Stewart Park Festival association, I will be heading to O'Reily's (43 Gore St. E) in the lovely town of Perth Ontario for a show next Friday, Febuary 17th. Tickets can be reserved by calling 267-7994. Perth is about 30 to 40 minutes from Ottawa for those interested in making the trek.

Recording: I have been holed up at home finding my way around Apple Logic software and recording songs that will join the songs already recorded to become a unit of songs to be released at some point this year. It is sort of like the long way around the mountain. I record at home and then re-record eveything with Draves and Peter Vonalthen later.
I have also been mic shopping and bought my first "studio mic" this week (An Apex 460 Tube Mic, thanks AV). If anyone has any other recomendations, I have 30 days to exchange this one, so please feel free to fill my mailbox with affordable microphone information.
Take a wonder over yonder to www.myspace.com/jimbryson and have a listen to a home made take on Flectons' Death By Vibration. I recorded this on garageband and dumped in over to Logic and added the organ there. Sorry for the mix, my hearing has gone out the window.

Other Goings-On: Well, other than the odd trip to Montys' with Lommo and AV, that is about it. Next month, Kathleen and head out for a few weeks of Eastern USA duo touring, which mean I have to get my slack guitar playing in shape and fast. As well, I am headed off on tour in May to the UK with Howe Gelb and the choir for three weeks to support the "Howe's No Angel" record.

Enjoy the Winter Olympics....
