Mucking About:
Well, what is going on around here today? We are having a terrific fall day in the Super City, so nice in fact that I am inside writing this instead of being out there. Ok, I will go out. Let me out!!!!!!!!!
I have been inside mucking around and figuring out how Skype works. And now, thanks to Andy McCormick, it all is in ship shape and working Aok. Really quite remarkable it is as many of you know and good for the spend thrift like myself.
And now, I am heading out to peruse the bargin dress shirt world at Winners and have a listen the Mward song Chinese Translation that Rolf has really been hyping.
Over, city rovers,

Sunday, Sunday:
I regret when I post after a return from somewhere rather than while away at that somewhere. I lose things. Little bits of memories that when put together can become a story. What you have here is a recounting, a recollecting of times recently gone by. A short trip back in memories.

Pictures Of
:
To start with, right above here here we have a photo of Lisa. She never seems to be here on the site and she should, so there she is eating dessert in Austin with Wayne Coyne in the background. There are many more photos' to be seen and they can be seen if you head on over to FlickrTown. The photos' there are all mixed together and go back as far as Westfest to as recent as last weekend at the ACL Fectival in Austin. Speaking of which, we saw some great shows (Iron and Wine) and some not so great overhyped shows. It started off at close to 100 degrees and then the thunder and lighting came and the temperature dropped. We walked for miles and took bicycles cabs and drank some free festival beer and oh yes, played a show on the Sunday. It absolutely poured and poured prior to us playing but thankfully cleared just before we walked out to take our places in our respective stage puddles.

A Show of Sorts:
The Ottawa International Writer's Festival is celebrating it 10 year next month and they have decided to mix a bit of music into the schedule. I am taking part in a songwriters' event on Thursday October 5th at 10 at the National Library Auditorium. I am joined by Lynn Miles and Oh Susanna for this event. follow the above link to the event site for ticket information. As well, Jowi Taylor of CBCs' Global Village will be on hand with the Six String Nation guitar. The guitar is made of more than 60 pieces that are significant aspects of history or culture from across the country.
And speaking of Lynn, I am playing bass and singing with her at the Black Sheep Inn on Friday October 27th.
And that my friends is all,

Just Like That:

I went away last week to mix and came back and missed the labour day weekend and then got up and boom, the warmth of summer was replaced by chilly evening temperatures. And I just got my porch lamp system going....

Mixing was a hoot and maybe should be more business than fun. Shame on us. Draves was the master of all things related to having a good time. He even put his brain to work and challenged us to his very own Beer Challenge. Kind of like the Pepsi challenge except it is in multiple parts and you do not know what any of the drinks are, you just guess blindly.

With lots of downtime between songs as well, I got myself absorbed into the series Carnivale. Neko Case left it behind from her last visit and I watched 9 episodes over the week and went out hunting for the rental possibilites for the other 3 episodes of season One.

Mixing also provided us with an amazing oppurtunity to spend a few days with Damo Suzuki, who was staying with Darryl and Tracy while he scooted about in ontario and Quebec playing shows. Damo is a terrrific cook and make us many multi-course meals while we were there.

I am happy with songs and eager to move on and get them out, although that might still be a while with all the other activities that go along with getting a record ready gets themselves in order.

What else, else what, should I say? Lisa is coming along on our trip to play the Austin City Limits Music Festival this weekend. After the festival is over, we are staying on for a few extra days, thus making this our summer/fall vacation together. What a great line-up, so many people playng that we all want to see.

Well, that is all, lots of changes coming here in .org land, just like outside....
