Suzi Lang (Givogue):

It is with great and heartfelt regret that I write to say that we lost a truly amazing and wonderful friend this week here in Ottawa.

Our dear friend Suzi Lang (Givogue) passed away last evening after a heroic year long battle with cancer. A fierce trooper in all aspects of life, Suzi will be dearly missed by so, so many of us.

Words cannot describe the loss that we all feel today...

"Following a year long battle with cancer, Suzi passed away on 26th of June at the Hospice at Maycourt. She died as she lived with courage, grace and dignity. Soul mate and beloved wife of James Lang, son of Trish Morin and Stephen Lang who loved Suzi like a daughter. Dearly beloved daughter of, Gloria Scharfe and Albert Givogue and cherished stepdaughter of Wesley Scharfe. Loving sister of Marc (Evelyne) and aunt of their children David and Elise. Loving godmother to Emily Robinson. Suzi will be missed by Granpa Mel, her special friends, co-workers and relatives who all shared her journey with so much love and hope. Thank you to the caring staff and volunteers at the Maycourt. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd. (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.), Nepean (613-722-6559) on Friday June 29, 2007 from 1–3 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial service will be held in the Outdoor Chapel on Saturday June 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the Maple Terrace Room. In lieu of flowers donations to the Hospice at Maycourt in Suzi’s name would be appreciated"

great national standbys CBC and BBC.

Check out Jim's CD release from the Black Sheep Inn back in the spring

And hear a few tracks from Jim's recent NXNE performance for BBC
Radio's

land of the leper-kaan! Jim will be getting over there eventually, but

Free iTunes Download of the week:

Visit the iTunes site during the week of June 19th and download The Wishes Pile Up as the Free iTunes download of the week. I could say something suave like you will not be disappointed, but just head over and enjoy!

Thanks so much to iTunes Canada for having us up there and for the staff pick back in April.

When Irish Eyes are Smilin':

On June 15th, a reconstructed and morphed version of Where the Bungalows Roam will be release in Ireland by the Independent Records

Independent Records is the Irish home to Kathleen Edwards , Josh Ritter and the Pernice Brother's. This special Ireland only release of the Bungalows is a "morphing of sorts" and it includes two songs from the North Side Benches album, features a different order and completely different artwork. Having never released a record in Ireland, this version includes Sleeping in Toronto and Somewhere else and leaves a couple of songs aside that appear on the Canadian release.

Thanks to Dave O'Grady for doing this. I will be heading over there in the not too distant future for a show or three.

Ok, what a day, outside now I go and out of the furnace that is our living room.

See you out east!!!

Press, Blogs, Bungalows Site etc:

Hi all. Thanks GTA friends for an excellent Saturday night at the Horseshoe. It was a double joy with the Senators winning just before we took to the stage.

Funny and great to see blogger Raymi Minx there too:

Here is a link to her blog: RIGHT HERE*

And also the Philoginist: HERE *

Speaking of Phil, he tooked a bunch of photos' from Saturday show and they are hanging out at THIS spot on the innerweb.

*(dad, do not go to these links, they are not for everyone).
NOW, EYE Weekly and Exclaim Coverage:

I have to link the review from the latest NOW magazine, as it is shockingly excellent and good to share perhaps.

"Maturity can be trouble – you know, that album your favourite artist makes to show the world he or she can be a serious musician. When it goes wrong, it goes very wrong, but when it goes right, as in Jim Bryson's case, a masterpiece is often born". NOW Magazine, May31st, 2007.

Read the whole NOW review it HERE

"Sometimes, if you're lucky, you recognize that moment when a record begins to work its way under your skin, and you begin to ration it carefully, in measured doses, like a fine bottle of scotch". Helen Spitzer, EYE Weekely, May 31st, 2007

Read the whole EYE Weekly interview with the wonderful Helen Spitzer HERE

While you are at it, here is a lovely piece also in Exclaim from last month:

Have a Looksie....HERE...

Where the Bungalows Roam web-site grows:

Check out the latest and souped up version of www.wherethebungalowsroam.com. JP has improved and added water and watched it grow. It has all the latest Flickr photos' as well as shows and the streaming of the entire record. Now get on over there!!!

Waiting on a Friend:

I am waiting for Kathleen to pick me up and go to watch some hockey with Dave Hodge west of this fair city if Toronto. Check out the posting below for all of this weeks show info and see you all in Waterloo and back in Toronto and then in Ottawa.

Thank, as always, for reading,

jim,
